The surrounding fields and villages are teeming with wildlife and criss crossed by public footpaths, so there is lots to explore when taking a break from fishing.
If all the fishing and exploring makes you thirsty you can always visit the Blue Bell Inn situated in the village. This 13th century Inn is steeped in history and was the drinking place of the Dambusters who were stationed at nearby Thorpe Camp. The Inn contains a good sized collection of Dambuster memoribillia including some old signatures on the ceiling. They serve good food and real ales.
If its retail therapy you need then the old Roman city of lincoln is 22 miles north and the the historical town of Boston, from where the pilgrims set sail for America, is just 16 miles south.
The seaside is just 30 miles away with the popular coastal resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe.
For general supplies the picturesque town of Woodhall Spa is 3 miles away and boasts many independant shops and should have everything you need, and offers a wide range of amenities for the visitor, including golf, a good array of quality shops, Jubilee Park with open air swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling greens, the Cottage Museum and the unique Kinema in the Woods.
